At Jantex, we are proud to stand alongside our charity partner, The National Forest, as it celebrates an extraordinary milestone: the planting of its 10 millionth tree.

This achievement represents far more than a number. It marks over three decades of dedication, collaboration and shared ambition to transform a once heavily industrial landscape into a thriving, resilient forest that benefits people, wildlife and the economy alike.

A Landscape Transformed

Since the early 1990s, woodland cover across the Forest’s 200-square-mile area has grown from just 6% to more than 25%. What was once a fragmented and industrialised environment is now a vibrant, living landscape that supports biodiversity, strengthens communities and creates new opportunities for sustainable growth.

This landmark moment was celebrated with the planting of a commemorative oak during a special BBC Countryfile visit, highlighting the national significance of this achievement and the inspiring journey behind it.

Real Impact for Nature and Communities

The long-term commitment to planting and restoration is delivering measurable, meaningful change.

Wildlife is returning and thriving as habitats expand and reconnect. Woodland bird populations have risen by 48%, while species such as dormice and the purple emperor butterfly are making a welcome comeback.

Communities are benefiting too. Today, 76% of households in the area live within a 15-minute walk of greenspace. With over 320 kilometres of walking routes and widespread access to outdoor learning and volunteering, the Forest has become part of everyday life for thousands of people.

Driving a Greener Economy

The National Forest is not only restoring nature—it is also powering sustainable economic growth. Each year, it attracts more than 8.7 million visitors, supports thousands of jobs and captures an estimated 730,000 tonnes of CO₂e.

This balance between environmental restoration and economic opportunity is central to its long-term success and a key reason why the model is now inspiring similar initiatives across England.

Looking Ahead

While celebrating this milestone, the journey is far from over. The National Forest continues to work towards its ambitious goal of reaching 33% forest cover, alongside developing major projects that will shape its future.

Plans such as the reimagining of Conkers as a flagship visitor destination signal an exciting next chapter—one that will further connect people with nature while supporting sustainable enterprise.

Our Commitment

As a proud partner, Jantex is delighted to support this vital work. The planting of 10 million trees is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when organisations, communities and individuals come together with a shared vision.

We believe in the importance of long-term partnerships that create lasting, positive change—for the environment, for communities and for future generations.

This milestone is not just a celebration of the past, but a promise for the future.

Together, we’re only just getting started.
